Premium trust account compliance ledger

Premium you collect belongs to the carrier and the insured until it is remitted. The ledger keeps that money visible, separate and explainable — the record a regulator asks for.

Available on Professional and up

How it works

1. Set up the trust account

Create each premium trust account with its bank, the state whose rule applies and, if you keep one, a minimum balance.

2. Post every movement

Record each inbound and outbound entry against the policy, carrier or transaction it belongs to. The book balance and a running balance update with every entry, and an outbound entry that would take the account below zero is refused.

3. Watch the status

When the book balance drops under the minimum you set, the account's compliance status changes to a warning and resets once a deposit restores it. The bank balance and last reconciled date sit beside it for the tie-out.

What you get

Separate by design

Trust funds are tracked in their own accounts, apart from operating money — which is what state fiduciary rules are about.

Your state's rule, cited

The by-state reference lists the statute, what it requires and the penalty for diversion for all 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico and the USVI, transcribed from the NAIC fiduciary chart.

Tie out three ways

The free worksheet reconciles bank, ledger and what you owe carriers, and shows the shortfall or cushion — with your state's rule pre-selected from its page.

Append-only, audited

Entries are added, never edited away, and every one lands in the immutable audit trail with the user who posted it.

Tie your account out now, on your own numbers

Tie your premium trust account out three ways — bank, ledger and what you owe — and see the shortfall or cushion. Free, in your browser, no account.
