AL3
The ACORD Level 3 flat-file standard used to exchange policy and commission data between insurance carriers and agency systems.
AL3 is a fixed-position record format, decades old and still the backbone of carrier-to-agency data exchange in the United States. Files arrive as batches of typed records describing policies, transactions, and commission detail.
Its age shows: parsing AL3 requires the record layout specifications, and carriers vary in which optional segments they populate. That variability is why AL3 support is a meaningful engineering commitment rather than a simple import feature.
