Expiration Date

The date a policy's coverage ends unless it is renewed, extended, or replaced.

The expiration date closes the policy term. After it passes, no coverage applies unless a renewal has been bound — which is why expiration dates drive the renewal pipeline in every agency management system.

Expiration dates are also a retention metric. Tracking which policies expired without a corresponding renewal is how an agency measures whether it is keeping its book, and it is the input to the retention calculations owners watch most closely.
