Producer
A licensed individual who sells insurance and services clients, usually compensated by a share of the commission on the business they write.
Producer is the industry's term for a salesperson: licensed, appointed, and paid principally on production. Compensation typically differs between new and renewal business, with new business earning a higher share.
Producer compensation is a major driver of reconciliation complexity. Commission has to be attributed to the right producer, split where accounts are shared, and adjusted when a chargeback reverses business that was already paid out.
